Showing the hypothesis of "vasculogenic mimicry" in head and neck cell lines. The upper part of the image shows vascular channel formation in a head and neck cell line. The lower part is a diagrammatic representation of a tumour lines blood vessel and its transition to a mosaic lined vessel (containing tumour and co-opted "angiogenic sprouts" from host endothelial cells) joining a conventional endothelial lined capillary of the systemic vasculature.
